8ozplus of fresh, top quality, 1st year common mullein leaf, grown, wild harvested, dried, and packaged with our own hands at the Earthly Abundance homestead, with organic, pollinator-supporting gardening practices. This mullein is air dried, and ready for your DIY folk remedies like tea or tincture for winter well being. We gather only a few tender leaves from each 1st year plant and these plants continue to thrive here.

The leaves we harvest, work with ourselves, and offer you, bring quality and efficacy with every purchase. We get to enjoy and share the benefits of this magnificent old-world herb for our wellness practices, and the tall stalks that come up 2nd year offer delicately honey-scented yellow flowers that honey bees and butterflies LOVE, and big leaves that small frogs enjoy resting in the shade on. Following the flowers that continue to appear well into November here at the homestead, each plant will produce a few hundred thousand seeds that feed all kinds of birds through the winter.  What a beautiful miracle to be a part of by working specifically with these plants and being able to bring them to you!

As we continue to nurture and care for the land of our Earthly Abundance homestead, honoring our work to maintain it as a Certified Wildlife Habitat, she reveals more of the Earthly Abundance that inspired this very work, and mullein is part of that story.  Our mullein is a volunteer plant at the Earthly Abundance homestead, and one we welcome and celebrate!

Most of us have seen mullein growing, tall, spikey “weeds” by the side of the road of various highways and biways, usually about 3-5 feet tall, and it’s dried up and died off by the beginning of Autumn. It wasn’t until it showed up on our homestead a couple years ago that we really began to understand just how abundant this plant is. What a joyous surprise when we had 11-12 mullein rosettes pop up in the pollinator garden right off the front porch. Only receiving a limited amount of sunshine during any given summer day due to the 100′ and taller old growth forest surrounding us, we were overjoyed that this sun-loving “weed” chose this land to produce stalks taller than the roof of the house and offer folk medicine for humans and food for so many other beings. Talk about abundance from earth. And, at the very end of the growing season, some old-world books mention the tall stalks being cut down, dried, and used as torches at Autumn Equinox and other Harvest time celebrations!
